Tuesday 17th January saw us take our 3rd annual Chef event live!
CJUK Live 2017 took place at the Heartwood Conference Centre in Accrington, Lancashire and welcomed the largest number of attendees yet, with over 50 CJUK Chefs as well as industry professionals and guests.
The day began with a warm welcome from Managing Director Michelle Mellor, who shared the vision for CJUK in the coming years and how our loyal and dedicated Chefs form a huge part of this! Michelle talked about challenging the culture of the industry and enhancing the reputation of Interim Chefs.
Head Chef at ‘Adam Reid and the French’ in Manchester and Great British Menu Finalist then took to the stage sharing his story and secrets to success as well as his views on the current struggles the industry faces.
Adam was followed by a Q&A with a panel of industry experts which included;
CJUK Chefs asked questions based on numerous key issues currently facing the industry, including; the Chef shortage, work-life balance, mental health and working hours.
During the Q&A the event cut live to the kitchen to see 7 CJUK Chefs battle it out in the cookery competition. The Chefs had just over 1 hour to prepare 2 courses with ingredients which was presented to them only minutes earlier. Ingredients were provided by Class One, Wellgate Fisheries and Beeches Butchers.
The panel of judges selected Scott Williams’ dish as the winner;
After lunch came the much anticipated CJUK Awards where Chefs were recognised and rewarded for their outstanding contributions to the CJUK Brigade.
The Recruitment Team at CJUK would like to thank all of our guests for joining us on the day and we look forward to celebrating next year at CJUK Live 2018!
