On Thursday 14th November 2019, over 200 people people from 45 businesses came together at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa for the fifth annual Blackburn Youth Zone Quiz.
The Quiz is organised by our sister-company Cummins Mellor who are also Patrons of the Youth Zone, a 21st century youth hub located at the heart of Blackburn, aiming to change the prospects offered to young people in the area.
As well as the quiz, the evening saw a raffle with 25 fantastic prizes donated by Lancashire businesses, including afternoon tea for two at the Lowry Hotel, an Amazon Echo Show 5, Manchester United tickets and more.
After an exciting 10 rounds of questions, the end of the evening saw the title of ‘BYZ Quiz Quest Champions 2019’ go to WHN Solicitors, who were presented with a trophy and medals made by members of Blackburn Youth Zone.
The money raised on the night will go towards the Youth Zone’s ‘Get a Job’ programme, facilitated by the team at Blackburn Youth Zone. This programme is aimed at supporting young people aged 16 – 24 years, gain the right skills for employment.
The money raised for the programme from last years’ event has seen 36 young people enter into employment, education or training, a further 28 enrolling onto college courses and over 81 young people aged 14 and over taking part in masterclasses delivered by Blackburn Youth Zone Patrons.
Commenting on the success of the evening, Cummins Mellor’s Senior Consultant and Quiz organiser, Amy Hutcheson, said;
“What an incredible evening! It was brilliant to have so many of our clients and local businesses coming together to support our local community. Blackburn Youth Zone is a wonderful charity and together we are supporting our future generation.
“Congratulations to the worthy winners and to all those that made the evening possible. Special thanks go to The Dunkenhalgh Hotel for their generous hospitality, Pierce Accountants for their technology support and Barclays Bank for their match funding. By coming together we’ve all made it happen – thank you.”
Thank you to all the businesses, colleagues, friends and family for helping us to raise such a huge amount for our local Youth Zone.
