At the end of each month, the Cummins Mellor Group hold a dress down day in the office to raise funds for charities close to our hearts.
Each event is chosen by a colleague and they take control of organising and running the event from start to finish.
Katie, CJUK’s Director, is running September’s dress down day for Jo’s Trust which is the only UK charity dedicated to women, their families and friends affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
This is a charity very close to Katie’s heart as one of her best friends, Liz, was diagnosed with cervical cancer earlier this year at the age of 29.
You may know Liz for her family run Brindle Distillery in Lancashire, home of the amazing Cuckoo Gin.
It was a very scary time for everyone and Liz has bravely shared her story in a personal blog she wrote with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of cervical screening. You can read her story here.
The Event
On 27th September, we will be holding a dress down and fundraising day at our offices in Blackburn from 12.30 – 1.30pm.
Liz will be coming in to talk to us about her experience and the importance of cervical screening. This is open to anyone who would like to come along, especially the men!
Liz is a professional performer and actress (she was in Les Miserables in the west end among many other shows) so we know it will be entertaining and not “just a woman talking about cancer” – her words not ours!
We would like to open up this invitation to anyone outside of the business, so please feel free to come along in your lunch hour. We will be selling cupcakes on the day so you can also contribute to our fundraising.
