KEY INFORMATION
FOR TEMPORARY PLACEMENTS
General information about temporary assignments with CJUk
Name of your employment business:Chefs Jobs UK
Your employer:
Chefs Jobs UK
Type of contract engaged under:
Contract for Services
Who is responsible for paying you?
Chefs Jobs UK
How often will you be paid?
Weekly in arrears. On completion of your contract your final wage will be paid into your bank account the following Friday after your last shift.
Expected or minimum rate of pay:
Each assignment differs and the rate of pay will be confirmed in writing each time, never below statutory requirements.
Any fees for goods or services:
You will not be charged for finding assignments.
If you are required to have a DBS Check, this would need to be paid for separately. Our Consultants will help you obtain the DBS Check with our sister company, Personnel Checks if this is required.
Changes to personal details:
It is extremely important that you make your Consultant aware of any changes to your address, email address or bank details. We must have up to date details for you to ensure we're able to pay you on time each week.
Holiday entitlement & pay:
As temporary workers do not have fixed or regular hours, holiday entitlement will be calculated using an accrual method over the hours that you work (based on a 52 week average). This equates to an entitlement of 12.07% of hours worked.
Please note: Although you may request a full day's holiday pay, when this is processed it may not be your usual total hours i.e. 8 hours, due to holidays being calculated using an accrual method of the hours worked over a 52 week average. Therefore if you have had time off due to sickness/holidays or worked less hours 1 day may only equate to 7.5 hours for example.
TIPS:
The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 was introduced 1st October 2024 and is applicable to qualifying agency Chefs in Great Britain only and does not apply to Northern Ireland. The act aims to ensure fair and transparent allocation of tips, gratuities, and service charges by employers and hirers. CJUK will include details of tip payments on your placement confirmation email before you start your assignment.
When will you send my P45?
If you have not worked for CJUK on a temporary basis for 3 consecutive weeks, your P45 will automatically be issued to you via email the following week (provided you are still not working on a temporary basis for CJUK). Any outstanding holiday pay will also be paid to you automatically when your P45 is issued.
If you require your P45 or outstanding holiday pay earlier than outlined above, please contact your Consultant who will arrange to have this processed for you sooner.
Please note that candidates are only able to request their own P45 / holiday pay.
Deductions from pay required by law:
There are some deductions which the employment business are required by law to make, such as PAYE tax and National Insurance. If you don’t provide us with a P45 before your first week of work, you will be emergency taxed.
Once HMRC have provided us with the right tax code, any tax over or underpaid will be adjusted in the following week’s wage. You are automatically enrolled onto the workplace pension scheme after 3 months unless you opt-in earlier or decide to opt-out.
Pension Scheme:
It is a Government requirement to provide a pension scheme to all employees.
Enrolment to the Government NEST Pension Scheme is postponed for a period of 3 months from the start of your employment with us. You will receive a letter confirming this. At the end of this period, you will automatically be enrolled into the scheme.
Should you wish to opt out at that time, you must contact NEST. Contact details and information will be provided in the confirmation letter we send to you when you are enrolled into the scheme.
If you are still within your opt-out period (this will be confirmed on the letter you receive), you will automatically be reimbursed through your wage. If you contact NEST after the opt-out period, any reimbursement will be made directly by NEST.
How to request holiday pay
Please be aware as a temporary candidate you are not automatically paid for Bank Holidays.
Please follow the below process in order to successfully make a holiday pay request.

Request the holiday with your manager on assignment to ensure the dates you require are available and they are aware of your holiday.
