Meet The Team: Adam Littlewood, Recruitment Assistant

Working as a temporary chef in short-term placements can feel isolating, so we work hard to keep in touch and make sure you feel like a valued part of our team.

But how well do you know your CJUK account manager?

Read on to learn more about Adam, Recruitment Assistant at CJUK.

WHAT’S YOUR NAME AND ROLE WITHIN THE BUSINESS?

Adam Littlewood – Recruitment Assistant.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED HERE?

Five months and counting.

HAVE YOU HAD ANY INTERESTING JOBS IN THE PAST?

My first real job involved throwing kids down a ski slope and up a quarter pipe on big inflatable rubber rings at a local ski slope.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK? DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES?

I love cooking, I use it to relax after work, helps me decompress.

I play a card game called Magic: The Gathering on Friday nights with a group of friends. And I love going to the cinema and spending hours in a different world.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?

Each day is a different challenge. I’m still new to recruitment and I’m learning something new each day. Nothing is ever plain sailing in recruitment but that’s what keeps a job interesting.

WHAT’S ONE SKILL YOU’RE WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?

I’m working at improving at chess. I’ve always loved puzzles and games, and chess is a perfect combination of both.

WHAT HELPS YOU TO WORK AT YOUR BEST?

Having a set plan of the tasks I need to complete.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR?

Jumped into recruitment! A career change from tech support for new skills and challenges.

WHAT’S THE LAST THING YOU WATCHED OR READ – AND LOVED?

Most recently Oppenheimer, but I also re-watched Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse and it’s still as amazing as it was the first time.

WHAT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT WORKING HERE?

How inclusive everyone is within the business. Even though I might not speak or see someone from the other side of the business daily, everyone is open to having a chat during lunch and getting to know each other.

IF YOU COULD CLICK YOUR FINGERS AND BECOME AN EXPERT IN ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Something scientific. Maybe how to make hydrogen into a usable fuel. Would help change the world.

WHAT THREE WORDS WOULD YOUR FRIENDS OR COLLEAGUES USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?

Relaxed, calm, adaptive.

WHAT TOPIC (WORK-RELATED OR OTHERWISE) COULD YOU GIVE A PRESENTATION ON WITHOUT ANY PREPARATION?

Pokemon (I have so much useless Pokemon information in my head).

IF YOU COULD SWAP PLACES WITH ANYONE IN THE COMPANY FOR A DAY, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I’d like to see what a day in the life of Personnel Checks [our sister company] would be like, so anyone from there.

WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE?

Vincent D’Onofrio is quite a good shout. Fantastic actor (give Daredevil on Netflix a watch).

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?

Pizza. Never had a bad slice and can have whatever you want on top (especially pepperoni!).

WHAT ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT IN YOUR JOB?

I’m constantly learning new things, whether it’s a new client, a new candidate or something has changed in a current placement.

Always something new day-to-day.

WHAT’S A MISTAKE YOU’VE MADE IN YOUR CAREER, AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?

Trying my hand a door-to-door sales. I knew it wasn’t for me straight away but I stuck with it. Really I shouldn’t have pushed on.

I learnt that I need to know I’m 100% happy in what I do.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE WAY TO SPEND A WEEKEND?

I like being comfortable and being able to recharge.

Spending time with my partner, meeting up with friends, heading to the cinema or finding somewhere new for a bit to eat.

If I do any of those, I feel it’s been a great weekend.

WHAT’S A WORK-RELATED ACHIEVEMENT YOU’RE REALLY PROUD OF?

Hitting targets. I like having something to aim for and targets gives me a point to aim for.
