Awarding is Rewarding…
This time last year we introduced the ‘Chef of the Month’ award for our interim chefs. The idea behind it was that we wanted to recognise the hard work our chefs do month in month out for our clients and this seemed like a simple way of acknowledging it.
What we underestimated was the positive impact it would have on our internal team of recruiters as well as the chefs out on the front line.
A large part of our recruiters’ job is solving problems and ‘fire-fighting’. They are often working in a fast paced environment and dealing with clients who are feeling stressed as they need extra help in the kitchen.
While our recruiters thrive in this environment, there is something very soothing about taking five minutes to think about a chef who has really gone the extra mile and provided an excellent service for our customers.
How does the Chef of the Month Award work?
Each one of our recruitment team members submits a vote and presents a number of reasons why they think that chef should win the award. Listening to all the positive affirmations and stories about the amazing work our chefs do really lifts the mood in the office and reminds us that we work in an incredible industry with some really inspiring culinary professionals.
We have built a tight-knit chef brigade over the years and some of them have been working with us for over 20 years. We place a huge emphasis on putting our chefs first and taking the time to understand what they hold of value and greatest importance to ensure we place them in the right roles.
